Listed Architecture
About

A catalogue of architecturally interesting homes for sale.

The observation

Properties with genuine architectural value are often presented through conventional real-estate language that says very little about why the house matters.

We study each home through its history, site, plan, light, proportion, material character and potential for thoughtful change. Some houses require restoration. Others need substantial intervention. A few need almost nothing.

The objective is not to impose a single aesthetic. It is to understand the architectural idea already present, identify what gives it value, and consider how the house could continue without losing that clarity.

The method

How we read a house

Every entry follows the same five-part editorial system, applied consistently across the catalogue — whether the house needs stewardship or substantial work.

01

The Read

The architectural argument.

Why the house belongs in the catalogue, considered within its history, location and current condition.

02

Design DNA

The qualities worth preserving.

Site, light, proportion, plan, materiality, detail, landscape and the ideas that make the house distinct.

03

Rethink

The unresolved opportunity.

Changes to the plan, sequence, materials or later interventions that could be reconsidered.

04

The Edit

A specific design direction.

Sometimes restrained. Sometimes substantial. Always grounded in the architecture already present.

05

The Standard

The principle behind the intervention.

Preserve the DNA. Edit for modern life.

Uncommon Standard

An editorial project by Uncommon Standard.

Listed Architecture is an editorial project by Uncommon Standard, a residential design studio rooted in DNA, consideration and purpose.

The catalogue studies the houses. The studio applies the same judgement to residential design: understanding what gives a home its character, protecting what matters, and editing the rest with precision.
